NRL Season 2019 Finals Week 2

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Manly Sea Eagles – September 20 2019

Tip – It will take a brave person to suggest that the Sea Eagles can’t deliver yet another completely undermanned and outclassed upset victory as they did against the Sharks in Week 1 of the NRL Finals. It was an astonishing performance by Des Hasler’s team and to climb off the bottom of the ladder in 2018 and into Week 2 of the finals in 2019 is a wonderful accomplishment. Daly Cherry-Evans leadership has been crucial to the puzzle and his positional kicking play will play a vital role.

Meanwhile, the question for South Sydney will be if they can lift again after being totally outclassed by a rampant Roosters outfit. Momentum is an incredibly thing, and it’s a factor that even the bookies can’t seem to track, let alone the boffins and their statistics. The Eagles will be playing as if they have nothing to lose, and they don’t; no-one expected Manly to still be in the competition at this stage. Souths won’t be a walkover though, but Manly will appreciate this form of intensity for fun, and we anticipate that the boys from the Northern Beaches will get the job done in an upset win.

Melbourne Storm v Parramatta Eels – September 21 2019

Tip – Could the Melbourne Storm lose two matches at home in a finals series? It’s never happened before. However, given what happened to Melbourne against Canberra last week despite dominating 70 minutes of the match, who is to say it cannot happen again? Parramatta have done the Melbourne hearts and nerves no favours by reaching top form in their Week 1 flogging of the Brisbane Broncos.

The Eels should be right in it for large periods of the match at AAMI Park and may even push the Storm all the way. However, we believe that coach Bellamy will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Melbourne don’t let this match slip as they did last week against the Raiders. Look for Cameron Munster to have a monster game and breathe life back into the Storm attack.
