Australian cricket’s ball-tampering affair has had a domino effect for the Indian Premier League (IPL) after it was recently confirmed that Steve Smith and David Warner have also been banned from this year’s IPL tournament (beginning April 7 2018).

Warner and Smith, who have been suspended by Cricket Australia (CA) for 12 months, were set to captain IPL teams the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fell into step with CA by announcing the pair will be barred from the IPL T20 competition.
