World Cup Final Squad Comparison

Eoin Morgan would be proud of the efforts of his side so far in the tournament. From the low of the 2015 World Cup the side has transformed itself into the best ODI team in the world at the moment. They have set a new template and their batting line-up is envy for most sides in the world. Playing at home and starting as favorites wasn’t easy but the side has lived up to the expectations brilliantly. Their win over Australia in the semi-finals was a statement that the side made ending the run for the defending champions. Having defeated Kiwis in the league stage Morgan would like his side to play positive cricket focusing on their strengths and win a title that has long eluded them.

Jason Roy’s performance in the last few games have been brilliant and with Jonny Bairstow being in form they have the most dangerous opening pair in the world and the two would be looking to lay the perfect platform for the side. The middle order is equally impressive with Moran, Joe Root and the in-form Ben Stokes in the side. With the dangerous Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes completing the batting line-up they have great strength in their batting. England’s bowlers have been in great shape and the new ball pair of Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes being in brilliant form at the moment.  Stokes and Mark Wood have also bowled well and picked up important wickets. Adil Rashid adds variety to the line-up. Kiwis are likely to find it hard to score against this bowling attack.

New Zealand

Kane Williamson’s side started as underdogs in the tournament and has finally made it to their second consecutive finals of the tournament. Their performance against India in the semi-finals showed the resolve the side has. Defending a low total on a difficult pitch the team was on the money with their bowling outsmarting the strong batting line-up that the Indian side has. It was all about the team playing well as a unit with important contributions coming from all quarters. Williamson would want his men to get over the heavy defeat they suffered at the hands on England in the group stage and win this contest to lift their first ever title at this event.

The biggest worry for the side is form of Martin Guptill who has had a poor tournament so far. Henry Nicholls has also failed to convert his starts and the openers would need to put up a big stand in the next game. It is in the middle order that the side has in-form Williamson and Ross Taylor with both these men having had a good tournament so far. The lower order packs punch with James Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme having good hitting abilities with Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner also having done well with the bat. The bowlers have done a great job so far in the tournament with the fast bowling trio of Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson being in good form. Santner has also bowled well. Neesham and de Grandhomme will need to bowl tight spells in the middle overs to win the game for the side.

Our Prediction for England vs New Zealand

England shall win this game

After 47 games in the ICC Cricket World Cup some of which have seen electrifying contests, we are one game away from crowning the new world champions. As hosts England take on New Zealand at Lord’s, the Mecca of Cricket the expectations would be high on both the camps. New Zealand would like to go one better than their 2015 performance where they failed in the final hurdle while for pre-tournament favourites England it would be the perfect occasion to put behind the losses in the finals of 1975, 1987 and 1992 editions of the tournament. Irrespective of the winner in this game we would have a new title holder. Both the teams have played great cricket over the last six weeks and it would be a fitting contest in front of a packed house at Lord’s.England had comprehensively defeated New Zealand in the league stage and has a slightly better batting unit. This will make them favorites to win this contest and lift the 12th Edition of the World Cup.
