Chelsea vs Sheff Wed: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Sheffield Wednesday are having a hoot of a time in the FA Cup this season and landed the plum tie of a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on holders Chelsea.
Premier League Chelsea welcome Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday for their first meeting since April 2000.
Wednesday come into the game after an impressive 1-0 win over Wigan in the Championship whilst Chelsea appear to be at war with one another after a less than impressive display against Arsenal at the weekend.
Chelsea also have a tricky EFL Cup second leg tie with Tottenham to contend with meaning there is every chance Maurizio Sarri may opt to play a weakened team against the Owls.
That may be Wednesday’s only opportunity of progressing to the fifth round after needing a replay to dispose of League One side Luton Town in the third round.
Chelsea are favourites and should get the win, but it will be a tough affair with Chelsea embroiled in a top four fight meaning the Cup may be deemed surplus to requirements.
However, Chelsea did overcome Wednesday’s Championship opponents Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the last round and there is little to suggest that scoreline is not on the cards in this contest as well.
- Chelsea to win to nil
Sheffield Wednesday have only scored four times in their six outings in all competitions with Chelsea boasting two clean sheets in their last three at home, making this the way to go with top betting sites for a Blues clean sheet.
- Two goals in the game
Chelsea have netted two goals per game in their last two Stamford Bridge encounters including the win over Forest in the third round and have scored exactly two goals in 50% of their last 14 games.
