Can Manchester City Outscore Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium?

Manchester City host Liverpool on September 9 in the pick of the games in the EPL following the international break. Both sides have made a solid start to their campaigns, with seven points coming from their four games so far.

City will be without the services of Raheem Sterling, who is serving a suspension after he was sent off for celebrating with the crowd in his side’s 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in their last game. The former Liverpool man found the back of the net in the seventh minute of stoppage time to ensure the Manchester club came away from the south coast with all three points.

Liverpool failed to add a central defender during the summer transfer window as their move for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk failed to materialise. They did, however, capture Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal and the Englishman could be set for his debut against City as a right wing-back due to the injury to Nathaniel Clyne.

Manchester City can be backed at $1.85 with William Hill to win this game and given Jesus, Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are all available for this tie, you would have to expect them to really cause this Liverpool defence plenty of problems. The big dilemma for Guardiola this season will be how does he fit them all into his starting XI? If things are not going right for his side, he will have plenty of options from the bench.

Bet365 are offering $2.25 for over 3.5 goals in this tie, which could be covered in one half alone, given the number of attacking players both teams have. With a front three of Mane, Firminho and Salah, you would also expect Liverpool to score in Manchester so if you fancy a fun bet for the game, four goals or more is the play.
