Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers 2nd Match Squad Comparison

Brisbane Heat

Chris Lynn who has been named the new skipper for Brisbane Heat would like to start the season with a win. Apart from a Semi Final appearance the team has been at the bottom of the table in most seasons of the league. Lynn would want to change that poor record and has a strong team this time around. The right mix of batsmen and bowlers would mean that the captain has good arsenal to take on the Strikers in the first game. The first game is always important in these leagues and Heat would like to have their feet on the accelerator right from the word go.

Heat has a good batting line-up with Chris Lynn and Sam Heazlett at the top. Brendon McCullum, Max Bryant and Matt Renshaw make up for a great middle order. In Ben Cutting and Alex Ross they have the perfect guys in the finishers’ role. If they play to their potential the team would definitely put up a strong fight. The bowling attack for the side is very strong with Mark Steketee and James Pattinson with the new ball and they would be supported by Cutting. And then the captain is spoilt for choice in terms of spinners with Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mitchell Swepson being the front runners for the first game.

Adelaide Strikers

Travis Head their regular skipper isn’t likely to take the field in the opening game as he is representing the national side. This is definitely a huge blow for the side. Colin Ingram would lead the side in his absence and the South African would want the side to start from where they finished winning the title last season. They have good mix of quality players and would like to repeat their performance against Heat last season where they won comfortably. The team combination in the last season complemented each other and as defending champions they would like to make the perfect start to the season.

As far as their batting goes they have a great opening pair in Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald. The middle order would miss the services of Head but it is still strong with Colin Ingram, Jonathan Wells and Jake Lehmann having the ability to hit the ball. It is however their bowling that is their real strong point.  Peter Siddle, Michael Neser and Billy Stanlake form a great fast bowling pair. The spin attack is high quality and would be led by the teen sensation Rashid Khan. With Ingram in the mix they can cause trouble for the Heat in the next game.

Our Prediction for Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers

Brisbane Heat will win the match

The eight season of Big Bash is all set to kick off with defending champions Adelaide Strikers taking on Brisbane Heat at The Gabba. While Heat had a disastrous season in 2017-18 where they finished 7th in the points table they would like to kick start their campaign at the home ground with a win. As for Adelaide Strikers who turned the tables last time around from being one of the worst teams in the history of the league it would be an opportunity to keep their winning run going. A new season can often have surprises and both the teams would look to start the season on the right note.

While it is tough to make a call at the start of a new season Brisbane Heat have a balanced squad and playing in their home ground they would start off as favourites in the first game of the Big Bash League 2018-19.
