England’s Great Form

England’s series-clinching 16-run victory in Sydney was arguably their best since their revival began after the 2015 World Cup.

Australia played their strongest attack of the series on a two-paced surface on which it was difficult to set a score. England were only just touching five an over at the 40-over mark. Moreover, they later overcame the loss of paceman Liam Plunkett with a hamstring injury.

Centurion Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes smashed 48 runs off the last three overs. In the field, Morgan marshalled his resources expertly and leggie Adil Rashid produced his best display of the series.

England should be starting as favourites for Friday’s match.
