AFL 2018 – Round 5 Games – Previews, Predictions & Tips
by Ken Edwards, 16 April 2018
Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows
SCG – 20/04/2018
Tip – The Sydney Swans to bring the Crows back down to earth with their choking defence at the SCG.
St Kilda Saints vs GWS Giants
Etihad Stadium, Melbourne – 21/04/2018
Tip – Look for the young Giants to go ballistic against the Saints and overcome the significant Etihad Stadium home ground advantage.
Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles
MCG – 21/04/2018
Tip – History suggests that the Eagles struggle in Melbourne and particularly on the wide-open spaces of the MCG. We suggest that Blues are just bad enough for the Eagles to overcome their hoodoo and have a rare win in Melbourne.
Port Adelaide Power vs Geelong Cats
Adelaide Oval – 21/04/2018
Tip – Pardon the obvious pun, however, Port to power past the Pussy Cats at the Adelaide Oval after their surprise loss to the Bombers last week.
Fremantle Dockers vs Western Bulldogs
Optus Stadium, Perth – 21/04/2018
Tip – Upset of the round? Have the Bulldogs come good? They have a great record in Perth (especially in their Premiership year of 2016) and they may spring a surprise at great odds!
North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Hawthorn Hawks
Etihad Stadium, Melbourne – 22/04/2018
Tip – The Hawks. Too good, too classy and they have the leading ball magnet in the AFL in Tom Mitchell. Simple.
Brisbane Lions vs Gold Coast Suns
The Gabba – 22/04/2018
Tip – AFL finally returns to Queensland and the Lions should have the better of 2018’s first Q clash.
Melbourne Demons vs Richmond Tigers
MCG – 24/04/2018
Tip – The Tigers, despite the Demons being the only side that has the crowd pulling power to overcome the Tiger Army at the MCG. The Demons disappointed against the Hawks last week.
Collingwood Magpies vs Essendon Bombers
Tip – Could be close and the bookies agree. The young Bombers to have the best of the annual Anzac Day blockbuster?
